The Story of Butter Boy Pretzels

WE'RE NOT ACTUALLY FAMOUS...YET. BUT WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF MANIFESTATION

Butter Boy Pretzels isn’t a decades-old family recipe passed down through generations. It’s one woman with relentless determination of turning a dream into something bigger. I don’t have a food truck or a storefront (yet!). I just believe in the power of branding, creativity, and just enough delusion to make it happen. My journey here is proof that when one door closes, you build another one from scratch (and maybe twist it into a pretzel). I’ve always dreamed of building something bigger than myself. Even though this is a 100% woman-owned brand (the irony), I chose "Butter Boy Pretzels" because I wanted a name that felt like an instant classic, like it had always been around (more manifestation!). The "Famous" part? That’s just me putting my dream into the universe. This brand started with limited resources (okay, zero resources), but I believe in taking something small and turning it into a household name.

FROM MEAL PREP TO DONUTS TO…PRETZELS?

In 2019, I started a vegan and pescatarian meal prep business, but scaling required more resources than I had. By September 2023, I launched Lullaby Vegan, a home bakery specializing in handcrafted, yeast-raised vegan donuts. I became severely ill and had to step away initially. Things really took off when finally returned, but after some time passed, I knew I needed something just as special but more sustainable to grow. That’s when I made pretzels for the first time ever (March 2025)—just to see if I could. And I realized something:
✔️ Pretzels are handcrafted and made from scratch, but easier to scale than donuts.
✔️ While there are big-name pretzel brands, none are fully vegan & dairy-free—so no more feeling left out due to common allergens.
✔️ I could finally create something special without the limitations that held me back before.

FIGHTING THROUGH CHRONIC ILLNESS
& FINDING MY PATH

Just as I was getting Lullaby Vegan off the ground in August 2023, my health took an unexpected turn. What started as a sudden illness left me hospitalized and unable to eat most foods—including my own creations. With symptoms pointing to MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), I had to step back completely. I went from baking daily to barely being able to handle anything. But giving up wasn’t an option. For nearly a year, I kept working on Lullaby Vegan, trying to find my way through the challenges. Then, in March 2025, I made pretzels for the first time. That moment changed everything. I realized that this could be the business I could build sustainably, something that would work with my health. And that's when Butter Boy Pretzels was born. I had found a way to keep creating and sharing the joy of baking, while adapting to a new way of doing things that work for me.

WHY KEEP GOING IF YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR OWN CREATIONS? MY WHY

The hospital trips, the terrifying reactions, it's more than enough to keep me from taking a bite. But my why is bigger than food. My three-year-old son is watching me. I want him to see that even dreams that feel impossible can still come to life if your vision is clear. I want to prove to myself that everything I’ve been through wasn’t in vain. This isn’t just about pretzels. It’s about resilience, legacy, and showing up no matter what. Thank you for being here. Couldn't do this without you!
